Pretty Tote Finished!

I finished my OMG at Elm Street Quilts for March earlier in the month. I, also, added this to my March UFO Challenge since I've had this sitting in my house since December with just a tiny bit started.

I did kind of have an issue with the tote pattern itself (not the piecing of the star, etc). It really should have had a 1/2" seam allowance instead of 1/4". I guess I could have looked ahead and adjusted for that myself, but I didn't. Because once I started putting the tote together, it was very hard to get the handles placed with just the 1/4" seam allowance. I know I won't carry all kinds of heavy items in this tote, but you still want to have the bag to have some strength. I did double stitch the 1/4" seam allowance, though to add to the security.

I'm sure it will work fine. I love having totes in the Summer, especially because I'm always running somewhere and need to carry things. I do like how it turned out.

I purchased the cotton braided handles at JoAnn's because, in a way, I did not feel like piecing 2 1/2" squares for together. It just seemed like a waste to use the cute squares for the handles. I saved the mini charms to use for a mini quilt or something else.

My March Goal is finished. Also, adding this finish to The Crafty Quilter March UFO Challenge Now on to April.  Happy Sewing!

Winter With You Tote

For my OMG at Elm Street Quilts, I would love to complete this Sew Sampler Box - Winter With You. This box makes a very pretty tote.

I started purchasing the Sew Sampler boxes probably last Spring. I have found that they really are a great value with what you receive. Plus, a lot of times, you can sew pretty much a whole project from the box. This box I really love. In addition, I need a tote that I can start using in the Spring.

Everything is included in the box except for the batting and muslin. However, I think I am going to use By Annie's Soft & Stable because I have quite it bit of it in my stash.

I am looking forward to completing this One Monthly Goal for March.

Old UFO Finally Finished!

The Crafy Quilter UFO & WIP Challenge has gotten me to work on this old project. The quilt top was sitting in a dresser drawer for a long time. Then I pieced a backing and basted the quilt sandwich together. Then it sat some more in my cedar chest.

My original intent was to "practice" free-motion quilting with it. But, I never did get around to that.  It is at least a 5-year old project. So in actuality, I did not even want to work on it now. But I decided that if it was complete, I could use it on my picnic table in Summer because it is long and narrow. Plus, kind of summery colors.

So I finally quilted it and bound it.

I am checking this off of my UFO list. I'll be moving on to the next UFO.
