Christmas Quilt Finish for 2019

I'm glad that I selected this quilt for my December OMG at Elm Street Quilts. Otherwise, I'm sure I would not have completed it. Thanks to Patty for these One Monthly Goal settings. I got it done just in time.

I will probably use this a little bit on my side table for the Winter and then put it away for next year.
Posting my finish to The December 2019 One Monthly Goal Finish
Moving on to January, I'll probably select another incomplete project out of my Cedar Chest.

This was also #3 on my Quarter 4 Finish Along.

Trying to finish a Christmas quilt top for December

I have been trying to finish up a few items for Christmas gifts in December. But I still want to complete one of my older unfinished projects. So I have decided to, at least try to have this quilt top basted and partially quilted by the end of December.

In reality, I'd love to have it done within the next week or 2 so that I can use it for Christmas. But we'll see how fast I move with it. I believe that the completed top has been sitting in my cedar chest for probably about a year. It's time to get my act in gear because I really do like it. Plus, I need the room in my cedar chest.

Starstruck Quilt is finished!

I am happy to say that my Starstruck quilt for Happy Quilting Melissa's Quilt Along is now complete. I am very pleased with how it turned out. And I got it done in time.

Starstruck Queen Size

It fits perfectly on the bed in my spare bedroom.

It is labeled and ready to use.

And of course, Lucky, my furry friend, had to initiate it, also.

Many thanks to Melissa at Happy Quilting for this fantastic Quilt Along. The quilt along kept me going and now I have a beautiful quilt to use on my bed. Also, thanks to all of the quilters who quilted along.

This was, also, my goal for November at Elm Street Quilts so I will be posting there at the end of this month. My initial post was here.

In addition, this quilt was #1 on my Quarter 4 Finish Along list here.

One Monthly Goal - November

I am choosing my One Monthly Goal at Elm Street Quilts the same as what I have been working on lately. I have steadily been working on the Starstruck Quilt Along for over a month now. This is my completed quilt top.

In order to have your quilt in the final parade, it needs to be quilted and bound by November 12. So I am choosing this as my OMG for November. I'm hoping to have it done by November 12, but if I don't, hopefully, I will have it completed by the end of November.

Starstruck Queen Size Quilt Top done!

Yeah! I completed my Starstruck Quilt top. I did not take this outside for a photo because it rained Sunday and Monday it was already too dark. So this is the best photo I could get from inside my house.
This might be the largest quilt top that I have made so far.  I laid it out on the floor and I had to move some furniture to have enough space.

I added the Queen section this past week. I love the ribbons and I did enjoy how the piecing of the ribbons is done.

I would love to get this quilted soon so that I can use it on the bed in my spare room. I have already basted it and will be quilting a cross hatch. I'm sure it will be quite a project for me. We'll see how it goes. Linking to Happy Quilting Melissa Starstruck Quilt Along. Many Thanks to Melissa for another great Quilt Along!

Blue, Blue, My World is Blue

My October Goal at Elm Street Quilts was to quilt and bind this table runner. I am happy to say that it is complete. Once I dusted off the cobwebs, I realized that it has been in my cedar chest for at least a year.

This was one of the Moda Frivols. When I went looking for a photo, I realized that I have had this much longer than a year. I have had it since 2016 so it's about time that it is done. Some of my points are not the greatest, but I am still happy with it.

I pieced the backing with 2 rejected, leftover stars and some other blue fabric from my stash. Found some binding that suited it, also, in my stash.

I am posting my finish to Elm Street Quilts OMG for October and  Crafty Quilter's UFO Linkup
This was also #2 on my Quarter 4 Finish Along

Starstruck Picnic size is complete!

I am very happy to have my Picnic-sized Starstruck quilt top completed! This quilt top is moving along nicely.

Starstruck - Lap Size Complete!

Finished my Lap Size section for the Starstruck Quilt Along at Happy Quilting Melissa. I am enjoying piecing these sections. It really does go pretty quickly.

Moving on to piecing the picnic section next.

Quarter 4 Finish Along- Projects to complete in 2019

I am making my list a bit shorter for this Quarter of the Finish Along at Capitola Quilter. I need to be a bit more realistic on my "To Complete" list. So if I'm going to try to quilt a bed quilt which is #1 on my list, I think I'm just sticking with my smaller unfinished projects for the remainder of the Finish Along projects.

1.) I am participating in Happy Quilting Melissa's Starstruck Quilt Along and I honestly would like to have my completed Quilt Top quilted and bound by the end of 2019. This is a photo from the Baby Size and I am making the Queen Size. The Quilt Along finishes in November so I'm going to try to get it done.

2.) Would like to finish this Frivol. I have chosen it for my OMG for October at Elm Street Quilts so surely I can try to get this accomplished.

3.) Would love to finish this Bonnie & Camille table cover. It is Christmas fabric so I would love to have this on my corner table in my family room this year for Christmas.

4.) This NEST Hexi Door hangar. It is 90% complete so I am going to try to complete it.

5.) Since Christmas is around the corner, I would like to give a Zipper pouch to my mother and my sister for a gift. So I will add this to my Quarter 4 list.

6.) Plus this 2nd Zipper Pouch kit.

7.) This Simple Whatnots Mini. I would think that I should be able to finish something this small. I'll give it a whirl!

8.) I would like to complete is this Sew Sampler Mini and turn it into a pillow.

8.) I might at well add this to my list. I would like to make this into a pillow, also. This is from the Moda Bake Shop website and is a pattern by Jen Daly. She makes such cute patterns.

In reality, it would be nice to complete all of these by the end of the year, but I truly don't know. Many thanks to all of the hosts for this event. I'm sure it is no small chore. Plus, thanks to all of the great sponsors. I do try to shop when I can.

Baby Size for Starstruck Quilt Along

Yeah! I got the next section, which is the baby size, done for the Starstruck Quilt Along at Happy Quilting Melissa. Gotta love chain piecing. That helped to finish this even though I was away camping all weekend.

Next, we will be moving onto the Lap quilt size. I'm enjoying this so far and will start working on the next section when it is posted on Wednesday, 10/9/2019.

Trying to Finish an old Frivolous Table Runner

I am trying to keep my OMG for October on the lighter side. This is because I am involved in 2 Quilt Alongs so I need to keep on top of those.

Therefore, I am choosing this small table runner to be quilted and bound for my One Monthly Goal for October at Elm Street Quilts.

I do like having a separate goal each month (other than keeping up with my Quilt Alongs) because that helps me work on my pile of unfinished quilt tops. Plus, it gives me something different to work on. This little quilt, when finished, will go nicely on my coffee table. This is one of the Moda Frivols. I think I started the quilt top about 1 year ago.

This was also on my Quarter 4 Finish Along. Yeah 1 Done!

Q3 Finish-A-Long: Gingham Tote Completed

This is my 2nd finish for Q3 Finish-A-Long. I completed this Gingham Tote that is in Noodlehead's  "Handmade Style" book. I have been using it now for a month or so and I really do like it.

Here is my Original post for Q3 goals. It is #18 on my original list. I am linking this finish to Capitola Quilter Q3 Finishes

Quarter 3 Finish-A-Long -Modern Backgrounds Wall Hanging

Well, I managed to get a whole whopping 2 of my quarter 3 goals completed! First up is the Modern Backgrounds wall hanging. It is finished and I'm glad I had it on my list. My massive works in projects list is here:  Original list for Q3 Finish-A-long It is showing as #1on my list.

Unfortunately, it still is not hanging on my wall. I am in need of some easy way to hang it, but eventually I will have it hung in my spare bedroom.

Starstruck Wall Size Complete!

Finished the Wall Size for Starstruck Quilt Along at Happy Quilting.

I do like how this is coming out so far. Looking forward to the next steps, although, we are going camping next weekend so hopefully I'll have some time to fit in the piecing for the Baby section.

I guess you could actually stop at either the Wall section or the Baby section and you would have the completed quilt top. How cool is that! But I really would like to have a Queen Size quilt so I will be moving on.

Halloween Apron - Skulls and Roses

September seems to have flown by! But I did manage to get my OMG for September at Elm Street Quilts completed. Sometime in August I was looking through my little stash of Halloween fabric (it is actually "little" compared to some of my other quilting stash), and I thought - why not make another Halloween Apron. So that is what I chose as my September One Monthly Goal.

I will have to admit that there were plenty of days that I did not feel like working on this and chose something else to sew for the evening. This was a tutorial at Sew4Home. I guess I just prefer quilting over anything else.

It is nice, though, that if I do have somewhere to go for Halloween, I can pull this out and just put it on over jeans. I can add other things like a hat or whatever, but I will decide that when the time comes.

It is good to have a goal because I'm afraid that I would not have completed this if I had not chosen this as my OMG. Thanks to Patty at Elm Street Quilts for hosting this monthly goal setting. Here is my original post: September OMG

Super Cuts for Starstruck Quilt Along

Finished my cutting for the Starstruck Quilt Along at Happy Quilting. It was kind of a project - all of this cutting. I changed my mind and decided to go for the Queen-size quilt because: #1  - I have lots of batik fabrics that I need to use and #2 - I really could use a queen-sized quilt on the bed in the spare room. I'll just have to keep up with all of the piecing and, of course, make sure to gets it quilted!

I'll be linking my cut fabrics to Starstruck Quilt Along

Starstruck Quilt Along starting soon

I am going to try to participate in Melissa's Starstruck Quilt Along. I have been debating about it because I already have so many other projects in the works. But what's one more project, huh? I've participated in 2 of Melissa's Quilt-Alongs and it is nice because they are 2 of my completed quilts.

First is this Roundabout Quilt-Along. I like to drape this quilt over my loveseat at Christmas time.

Second is this Seeing Stars Quilt-Along. I've been using this quilt on my camper because it fits so nicely on the camper bed.

These are my fabrics for the Starstruck Quilt Along. I was thinking to originally do purple and white, but then I found this bundle in the middle that I purchased years ago from Fat Quarter Shop. It was still together in a plastic bag. Yikes! I think I'll try for the lap quilt or picnic. We'll see how it goes.

The Quilt-Along is going on until November 13 so there's still plenty of time to join in.

Summer days turn into September

It's hard to believe that it is going to be September. I've enjoyed my camping trips this Summer. My Mom went with us.

The ducks came up to my husband and I on the beach thinking that we had some food for them. Of course, I did give them a few potato chips.

I will miss my Summer boating. I guess I don't have any boating pictures, though. I will have to take a few before we officially put our boat away. Anyway, life goes on. And I guess that gives me an opportunity to get some more quilting done.

My goal for September is to complete this Halloween costume. It really is just an apron, but I think it's kind of fun to wear when made out of Halloween fabric. Plus, it's easier to sew than those Simplicity or Butterick patterns. Well, it's easier for me to sew, that is. I sewed a different one a few years back. I got it out to look at it and it really was kind of neat.

I am posting this to Elm Street Quilts September OMG

Wall Hanging for August is Complete

I am happy to say that I have completed my August OMG at Elm Street Quilts . My original post was here. I am planning to hang this in my spare bedroom because there really is nothing on the walls in there currently. I just need to purchase something to hang it with.

I actually did add the hanging sleeve on the back. It gave me a nice break doing the quilting this.

I like adding these little tags to the back of my quilts. It just adds something cute.

Also, I love these labels that I buy from Sweetwater. It saves me time because I can just iron this on and sew around the edges. Before I bought these, my quilt would go "unlabeled" for quite a while because I did not want to sew a label. I jut wanted to move on to another project.

August One Monthly Goal - Just My Type Wall Hanging

Well, half of the year is about over and I have actually kept up with my One Monthly Goals. I think I have chosen too many Quilt Alongs to participate in so I keep plugging away at those.

However, for my One Monthly Goal at Elm Street Quilts I would like something else to work on too. So I have decided that I would like to have this wall hanging quilted. I may or may not get the binding on so I'm just choosing to have the quilting done, but it needs basted first so I need to get on that this week.

This was in a Sew Sampler box in October 2018. I finished the quilt top right away and ordered the finishing kit. But it has been sitting in my "to be quilted" pile since last Fall. I would love to have this completed and hang it on the wall in my spare bedroom.

July One Monthly Goal Finished!

I am happy to say that I completed my OMG at Elm Street Quilts for July

I really do like it and I have used it already on a camping trip last weekend. It was nice to sling over my shoulder while we were walking around town. The shoulder strap is the same fabric as this front pocket.

The leather handles were new for me to do. I have not done rivets before, but once I figured it out, it wasn't too bad. Although, I am not anxious to do more rivets. In order to get the hole in the leather big enough to poke the rivet through, I had to keep turning an awl around towards the larger part of the awl. I could only take doing one strap each evening.

I like that it just closes with a snap so I can put things into it while walking and shopping.

This was my Original post for July One Monthly Goal

Quarter 3 Finish A-Long Projects

I am linking up some of my hopeful 3rd Quarter Finishes. Unfortunately, I was always too late to enter my hopeful finishes for the other quarters. Therefore, I am trying this 3rd quarter as follows:

1.) Quilt and Bind my Modern Backgrounds Wall hanging. This was in a Sew Sampler Box

2.) Complete this Zipper Pouch. This is A Pouch kit from Sex Lux Fabric
3.) Complete this Zipper Pouch. Also, from Sew Lux

4.) Quilt and Bind this Christmas quilt. This was in my Sew Sampler box last year. I have had the top completed for a while.

5.) Sew this Tote in  Handmade Style by Anna Graham

6.) Finish this Mini that was in my Sew Sampler.

7.) Quilt and Bind this Table Runner. It was the Valentine's Day Special Sew Sampler.

9.) Completely finish this Nest Hexi Door Greeter. I do have it started.
10.) Quilt and Bind this Bed quilt.
11.) Quilt and Bind this table runner. It was one of the Frivols that I never finished a few years ago.

12.) Quilt and bind this table cover. It was, also one of the Frivols.

13.) Quilt and finish this pillow top. This was a Turning Leaves Pillow from Moda Bake Shop by Jen Daly
14.) Quilt and Bind this Mini from Simple Whatnots by Kim Diehl
16.) And/or this Redwood Tote by Noodlehead
17.) And/or this Caravan Tote by Noodlehead
19.) Quilt and Bind this Threadology Quilt Along quilt

I'm sure I will not anywhere near too many of these completions, especially since I have a quilt along going, also. However, I now have many options. In reality, I'll be glad if I get a couple of them done. I am linking this list to 3rd Quarter Goals at CapitolaQuilter
