 I finished this Heart Drawstring Bag for my Sister-in-law. Her birthday is today, February 13. I can usually remember her Birthday because it is around Valentine's Day. I thought the Heart Bag was appropriate for today.

On the back, I added a "LOVE" label. I think it just adds a little something to a small project.

I made a couple of these Butterfly pouches a few weeks ago so I gave this one to her. It just fit into the Heart Bag. She does seem to like the pouches I have made and given to her previously. They are very useful.

Flipping out for a Pencil Pouch

The theme for Project Quilting #3 is Inside Out. I decided to sew a Pencil Pouch since you pull it through from the from the inside to the outside. The completed Pencil Pouch looks like this before turning:

Once flip-flopped through to the other side, now Presenting my Pretty, Pieced, Pencil Pouch.

I added a label to the back for extra Pizazz.

Pouches in a procession

I have not made many "quilts" in the month of January, but I have made progress on my pouches that have been sitting in a dresser drawer. All pouches are pieced so I will consider them my small quilts.

I belonged to the Monthly Pouch Club at SewLux Fabric for a couple of years. I really was lagging behind in finishing them. Slowly, though, I am working through my pouch kits. This is the Sunflower pouch and I do love it. I recently ordered the Sunflower zipper pull and it really adds a nice touch.

On the back, I added this label that I receive from Sweetwater once in a while. I need to start using these labels, too, so I am going to randomly add them to pouches and quilts. They do add a little something to the project.

The next pouch that I completed is this Gumball pouch, also a pattern from SewLux. I just loved it when I saw it, but it sat in my drawer until a few weeks ago. I am happy with how it turned out.

These little 2 1/2" squares are "snowballed" all around with the white and block dots so it was a little time-consuming. Both the front and back are mini-charms that are snowballed.

Last, but not least is this pouch, Tiny Tulips. It was completed at the beginning of January.  

I love this Tiny Tulips pouch, too. I have not used any of these pouches yet. I may start using one of these in the Spring when we start going camping. I love these pouches for carrying my makeup. 

I have given pouches to my family and friends and they seem to enjoy them, also. I like to have a few made ahead of time, in case I need a gift.

I just recently purchased these zipper pulls, so cute. While taking these photos, I just realized that I put the zipper in on this pouch on the right side, rather than the left side like the other two. I never paid attention to that before.

I am posting to From Bolt to Beauty, Brag about your Beauties. I am certainly not the greatest with posting my completed projects online. I am trying to start remembering my neglected blog. 

It just happens that Michelle is having a giveaway for a gift certificate for SewLux Fabric and all of my finished pouches are Chrissy's patterns from SewLux. I do enjoy the patterns that Chrissy makes. I think that they are just fun and very useful.

 

I have set My rainbow in the clouds...

The theme for Project Quilting 15.2 was to depict sky colors but not the usual blue. I was kind of stumped for a project, I guess. But a lightbulb went on and I did think that the rainbow is in the sky and therefore, the rainbow is sky colors. So I have sewn this rainbow pouch. We could use 10% or less of the usual sky blue so that is represented in one of the blades.

 This is a pattern by the Fabulously, talented Chrissy at Sew Lux Fabric. I enjoyed sewing this rainbow pouch and look forward to the next challenge. It's all about fun and having a finished project at the end of the week.

Ready to Pack it In!

 The 3rd challenge at Project Quilting Season 12.3 is for going on a virtual vacation. I have sewn this makeup bag using great dreaming-of-Summer prints and I always need a makeup bag for any type of vacation. Don't leave home without it!

There is plenty of room to pack all of my makeup, sunscreen and toiletries.

Stardust Blocks - Month 1 finished

 I had 2 goals for October: 1.) to complete my 1st blocks for the Sew In Love Block of the month, plus, complete a pouch from Sew Lux Fabric.

I'm happy to say that I did get these done early. This is the Rainbow pouch. 

This pouch was fun to make. Although, I wish someone would have told me to NOT spray water when adding the interfacing. Immediately, when I sprayed water, the Essex shrunk. I kept trying to press the block out to the end and then it distorted the block. I ended up adjusting the front and back by taking 1/4" off each side. Then I reduced the zipper length by 1/2", also. It worked out ok. 

Also, I completed my blocks for the first month of Sew In Love by Edyta Sitar. Here is a photo of my WIPs. These tiny sections of the blocks were so small (1 1/2") and they did take quite a while of piecing. I was glad to be done with them. I can see why these are called "Block of the Month" quilts. After 1 block, you need to take a break before the next month!

There are 5 to each block and 4 blocks are needed for the quilt. I am using a "misty grey" for the background. The silvery stars do not show up as well in this photo, but I they are pretty because it is metallic. Plus, I think they will be fine once they are in the quilt top. 

Stardust is the name of the block. I do like the end result.

Abstract Zipper Pouch is ready for gifting

I have been receiving Zipper Pouch Kits from Sew Lux Fabric for over a year now. I really do enjoy receiving them in my mail. However, for some reason, I do not get to making them right away and some of them sit in a basket. Well, I have made up my mind to get a few of these completed within the next month or so. This is my completed Abstract Pouch. 

I do like how it came together. It's a small project, but it is done. I am putting this in my "handmade gifts tote" for down the road. It's nice to have a gift available if  an occasion comes up. Some of my friends and relatives do appreciate a handmade item.

Finished a Makeup pouch for Quarter 4 Finish Along

I've been trying to complete some of the pouches that I have received from Sew Lux Fabric. I did finish this one in 2019 and it was Item #5 on my Quarter 4 Finish Along. 

I'm glad I was able to get this completed since now I have been using it as my makeup pouch. It really is the perfect size. I traveled to my Sister's house and it worked great in my suitcase.

Pouch Gift for Christmas

I gifted this pouch to my Sister-in-law for Christmas and then I remembered that it was on my Quarter 4 Finish Along as #6. Pouches are great for makeup and other items. I have been receiving the monthly kits from Sew Lux Fabric. The pouches are so unique.

Teapot Pouch

This is a pouch that I made from a free tutorial  for Splendid Notions Pouch by Charise Creates

I gave this to my sister as a Christmas gift. She lives in another state from me so it was easy enough to mail.

Inside has this cute green print and 2 slip pockets.

Spectrum Clutch

I made this Heidi Staple's Spectrum Clutch for my long-time girlfriend, Denise. 

I have known Denise since Kindergarten. She moved across country after college. I have only seen her twice, I think, in over 30 years. We got together for lunch so I wanted to give her a small gift. I think it turned out very pretty. My friend was a little impressed that I can actually sew now. We took Home-Ec in Junior High, but we didn't get very far back then.
